track in the direction of the sled.
-
Scales will open one hour before scheduled pull time for operators to pre-check
the weight of their pulling truck and make necessary adjustments.
-
Scales will close to all but the class pulling 15 minutes before the first
class starts to allow the pulling trucks sufficient time to line up for the
official weigh-in just before pulling.
-
Zero tolerance will be allowed on weight limit. Pulling trucks will be weighed
just prior to hooking to the sled. Trucks pulling light (under weight limit)
will be the operator option.
General Rules for Pulling Sled:
-
Miller's self-propelled sled will be used at all MMTMRPA pulls.
-
The small steering wheels (toward front of sled) shall remain in the most
upright position at all times when pulling trucks are hooked to sled. An
indicator light on the right side of the sled operator and the main red light
will illuminate/flash when the wheels/tires are lowered at any time.
-
An indicator light on the left side of the sled operator will illuminate/flash
while the weight box control is disengaged.
-
The weight box travel distance speed and/or any added weight to the sled
shall remain as is at all times when a class of pulling trucks are hooked
to the sled. If necessary, regearing of the weight box travel distance speed
and/or added weight to the sled will be made as classes of pulling trucks
change.
-
Miller's sled has a powerful electric motor (6 volt Ford truck starter motor)
to pull the kill switch on the pulling truck with a push button switch next
to the operator in case truck goes out of control or hitch and/or chain breakage.
-
The MMTMRPA will provide two (2) filled fire extinguishers located inside
front shield of sled.
General Rules for Pulling Trucks:
-
The first puller in each class is the test puller, this puller can accept
or decline the pull only while still hooked to the sled. The puller must
notify the flag person (and secretary) with a thumb up or thumb down at this
time and have the flag person inform the secretary if they wish to re-pull
in the 3rd or last position of that class.
-
Pulling truck may step up a class as long as it meets the requirements of
that class and the President and Head Safety Official approve the move. Pulling
trucks may not step down a class.
-
If all trucks have pulled and a pulling truck is still not in position, the
truck will have 3 minutes to get into position or be disqualified.
-
If the 1st truck in a class goes out of bounds at any point along the track,
the puller still has the option to re-pull.
-
Any pulling truck that pull 75 feet or less have the option of a second pull
and must tell the flag person at the time of the unhook if they wish to pull
again, and if they will move to pull in 3rd or last position. The 75 foot
option is determined by very front of sled, not any part of pulling truck.
-
If a driver raises his/her hand out the door window to indicate that they
want to stop and re-pull before the 75 foot line and the front of sled coasts
past the 75 foot line, the pulling truck will be allowed to re-pull.
-
If the first two pullers in a class goes out the gate, the weight box will
be regeared or additional weight will be placed on sled. The class will restart,
with the 1st puller having the option to be the 1st hook or drop to the last
position in their class to allow for engine cooling.
-
Pullers has the option to re-pull if the pulling truck goes out of bounds
less than the 75 foot line.
-
Pulling truck will be disqualified if it goes out of bounds of the track
past the 75 foot line, or if any part of truck tire touches boundary line.
Flag person's decision will be final on all out-of-bounds ruling.
-
All weights, weight brackets or boxes must be safely secured to pulling truck.
Any weights falling off a truck while hooked to sled will be cause for
disqualification. If any weight(s) or part of truck falls off during the
pull, the truck will be disqualified. There is no distance consideration,
the truck will be disqualified. Exception: The 1st puller in the class will
be allowed to refuse the pull and re-pull in the 3rd or last place of the
class.
-
If two or more pulling trucks goes out the gate for a full pull, a pull-off
will be held after the last truck in that class has pulled. The truck will
only hook once, and there will be no options to re-hook in the pull-off.
I.E.: In a pull-off, if truck only pulls a distance of 70 feet, that distance
will be recorded.
-
If there is a tie for first place, there will be a pull-off to determine
the winner.
-
If there is a tie for second place, they will split the 2nd and 3rd place
money 50%.
-
The pull for the pulling truck will not end until the truck is unhooked from
the sled.
-
Unhooking will not occur until the forward motion of the sled stops or when
the front of the sled goes beyond the end of the track (out of the gate).
-
Flag person (and pullers) should hold hole-digging by the pulling truck tires
to a minimum.
-
Drivers must have at least on hand on steering wheel at all times while pulling.
-
